Polterabend at the Kleinterzuechterverein..aka the place of the small animals:)

Ohhhhh...this German tradition is soooo much fun:)

Apparently...friends and family come to wish you a happy life and marriage..and they smash dishes...to give you to opportunity to prepare for "domestic" life together..(or something)..
so they smash..and you sweep together..to help you prepare for married life!

Julian and I arranged the location, food, music and drinks..

Usually this celebration carries on into the wee hours of the morning..but because we held ours on a Thursday evening..It went until only 1am..

people arrived all through the evening with ceramic dishes..to say hello, congratulations, and SMASH dishes..
it was a blast!

and I met old friends of Julian's..some he hadn't seen in years!!


and ALL the kids got in on the fun!


ok...really!..that was fun..but..!!..
